I can never get enough Shakespeare hence the title.
Anyway, let's see...haven't posted in months and I totally forgot about this painting even though it's hanging at the top of my stairs and I see it tons all day long.I've always seemed to find myself drawn more to moths than the ever so popular butterfly, and I decided to paint one of my favorite moths.
Basically it's born for the sole purpose just to have sex and die.It doesn't eat because it has no mouth.
However don't get me wrong,it's one of my favorites and they are truly beautiful and fragile creatures.Luna moths often fall prey to bats, spiders, toads, owls and other birds.Sounds like a pretty terrifying life if you ask me.
I've babbled long enough here is the painting. Not the best photo.I LOVE the frame I picked up for this.acrylic on 5X7 canvas board.

But so am I..

Normally, when I think about bees,I think of going to bible camp as a kid and a bee flying up my brother's pant leg and stinging him."He must have deserved it" I thought then, and actually I still think that way as an adult haha.I love bees.My favorite Transformer is Bumblebee(even though technically a bee he is not).I even have bees tattooed on the sides of my knees based on a line from a song by The Smiths that says quite simply"You're the bees knees, but so am I"
So that's what I'm calling this piece."The Bees Knees"
I could go on proving my love for bees, but that's not what this blog is for.Anyway,
I'm super happy with it and I'm glad I painted something realistic for a change.

Every Day Is Like....
"...Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey.."
The weather we have been having these days in CT is closer to Seattle or London weather.Other than today,I have barely seen the sun the past month and all it made me think of is "Every Day Is Like Sunday" by Morrissey. If you actually know me or have spoken to me,you know that The Smiths have been my favorite band since I was about 12 or 13 and without Morrissey,I would have never made it through the torture of high school or half the heart breaks I've had to mend. That being said,I thought this was a clever way to quote that song. There are one or two things I would have done differently, but all in all,I'm pretty happy with it.It's super girly too, which I'm all about.BTW,for those of you who have read this far and still haven't figured it out,it's a sundae...Every Day is like...get it?

"Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!"
If it weren't already obvious,I am a huge Alice In Wonderland fan,and always have been. However,I am not a fan of time.Waiting, schedules, deadlines, all equal no fun to me.We all have to do it though,be a slave to time that is,but at least in my newest painting"Killing Time",I can live a little vicariously through the white rabbit who apparently finally had enough of time and being late. Not much else to say really about this one. 9X12 acrylic on canvas board.Enjoy xo.

Ouchy Heart

Firstly,I cannot take credit for the title of this piece.I can always count on Brennan to make light of something seemingly depressing haha.So thank you Brennan for the title "Ouchy Heart".I don't know what to really say about this piece except that I do like how it has a very traditional look to it and I've always been a fan of traditional artwork and tattoos, however, lacking the skills in watercolor,I've never been able to accomplish anything remotely close.I'd like to think I kinda got the look I wanted from this one finally,or at least I'm on the right track.I know,I know, who doesn't have an obsession with human hearts these days?Seems to be yet another stupid trend that I will ignore and not compromise my love for anatomy that I've had since I was about 13.Yes,I was that weird girl reading gray's anatomy of the human body in high school.Fancy that,it's not just a stupid T.V. show, get into it.The human heart is fascinating to me.All in one shot you can feel overwhelming love and happiness to the core of it then on the total opposite side of the spectrum feel tremendous pain and emptiness as if a hole has been drilled into it.If no one knows what I'm talking about, then I feel bad for you.I love having the ability to literally feel my emotions in my heart like that.So there you have it..why the human heart is such a big obsession of mine and why it has ended up in multiple pieces of my art.Enjoy xo

" It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.”
It was pointed out to me that I haven't done a post in awhile,so here ya go.I've always been a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and I had thought more than once to do a painting based on it,but I never really got around to it before. It took me finally being truly inspired to find the motivation, and this is the end result. There is no official title on this one,but it has been decided that the Cheshire cat in the tree is really this cool cat named Charles... so a shout out to Charles!Hi!

Frannie likes candy
This is now the third painting I've finished in a week.I'm by no means trying to break any records, but I get these amazingly focused times where I have to be painting something on a daily basis.Unfortunately, this was the last canvas I have on hand so unless someone is donating canvas board until I can get more in a few days, this will have to be the end of my painting streak...for a few days anyway haha.
I guess I did find myself down this road again of painting another girl, and I'm kind of hooked now on these and want to do more. This one was especially fun because I got to paint along my little 3 year artist while she painted her own painting. She gave me a few "tips" like how the girl's name is "Frannie" and she likes candy, and I should paint some candy in there somewhere.I decided against painting any candy in there but in honor of my little one's suggestion,I will in fact call this girl 'Frannie'.I have to say that yesterday painting along side of my daughter was probably one of the most fun things ever. She was really paying attention to everything I was doing and was trying to duplicate it on her paper with her water colors, while all the while telling me what a great job I was doing.I had my own personal painting coach!Anyway enjoy this one!xo
