"The Boy Who Cried Wolf", where a little boy amuses himself by crying "wolf" to see the panic he causes in the community, but consequently does not get help when a real wolf appears...
The moral is:
"Even when liars tell the truth, they are never believed. The liar will lie once, twice, and then perish when he tells the truth."
I've never painted a skull short of cartoon like tattoo flash type art,so I decided to.It's a wolf skull...yep.I'm happy enough with it.I'll be happier if I paint more and get better at it.I'm contemplating giving it to the person who inspired it or keeping it for myself.Still not sure on that one.I really don't know what else to say that I haven't already.5X7 acrylic on board.

Just give me a chance and I'll try to forgive...
So it's a new year, and I actually do feel a lot different.I'm looking forward to the coming year and holding on to the people worth keeping in my life.It took me a bit to see who belongs close to me and who doesn't,but now that I have,I won't be blind again.Needless to say,if I'm talking to you this new year, you're one of those people.
Let's see...what have I been up to lately art wise anyway?I haven't painted anything new that I can think of except a sunset that I was told I painted for "therapy from being bitter".It's possible. My friend Shawnzi took an amazing photo of this sunset and it inspired me.Which is odd because I'm not a happy little tree landscape type person at all.My mind has been too far away to be able to focus on painting since October.
I've also done another faux taxidermy piece that I haven't given a name.I fell asleep watching Titanic one night and I wanted to make her a little Victorian, top hat and all.I used a real field mouse skull that I found in an owl pellet. This is for sale in my Etsy shop.
I started to dabble a bit in my REAL taxidermy experience by putting preserved pig hearts back together and finishing an unfinished display box for them.I've since given one as an xmas gift and just sold one in my Etsy shop this past week. It's proving to be really fun so far.And I'm excited to do more.
I've got some fun jewelry and hair clip ideas in my head that I hope to have up in the very near future.Other than that,I know what I need to be able to want to paint again, and I'm hoping that motivation comes back soon.Enjoy xo.

Etsy
As some of you know,a few pieces of the art I have shown here are available in my Etsy store.
http://OctobunnyCreations.etsy.com
I wanted to take a minute to make a note of some other Etsy shops worth checking out.
I've been doing modeling for this company as of late:
http://http://www.NYhop.etsy.com
and it's been a ton of fun so far.The jackalope dress is by far my favorite item of clothing these days.
My friend Shawnzi or as I like to call her,my sister from another mister,is doing some really awesome steampunk jewelry pieces these days, and I expect you all to check it out and buy it all up immediately!
http://www.steampunkrevolution.etsy.com
While I'm on the jewelry topic,Shawnzi's boyfriend makes amazing organic plugs and wood items. They're my main stop for all the plugs I wear.

I'm going to try and do these promotional posts every now and then.Enjoy! xo

"I no longer drink enough to think you're witty"
My head and heart have been in a weird place these days and I think it's starting to actually show in my art. This piece is named "Frigid" because it reminds of winter for some reason.I hand dyed the fur and this stuffed animal was completely harmed in the making of this piece.I wasn't planning on this being finished so quickly, but I was asked to do an art show at the last minute and needed it done.I plan on doing a whole series of these, and in the near future I will be attending taxidermy classes to be able to do this with real animals.I'm looking forward to creating things that only exist in my head...reality is overrated. Also I forgot to post a photo of a self portrait I did of myself using my extracted wisdom teeth from a few months back.Enjoy.xo

'live people ignore the strange and unusual. I, myself, am strange and unusual. "
I didn't expect to be painting a matching painting for the skeleton boy, buuuut he didn't seem right alone,so here's the end result.I have no actual title for these at the moment, but I'll edit this if that changes at some point. It's easy for alot of artists to say that "it's a bad picture" to make up for the fact that the work has it's flaws, but I can honestly say that these look way better in person, flaws and all.I'm really happy with how they turned out.
ANYWAY...for now I give you the Oddity series.By themselves they're just weird, together, they're still weird but they get eachother's weird so it works out.

Crazytown
I was going through my art album and realized I forgot to post a few paintings so I'm just going to drop them here in a random entry.
I did this one for my friend Sandra's birthday because she's obsessed with owls and it matches her room.
and framed
This was a Mother's Day gift for my South Jersey mom:
And this is my newest inspired by own personal skeleton boy who inspires me on a daily basis(you know who you are). It's the first in a series of two little oddities, and I'll most likely repost this one after I finish it's match.5X7"acrylic on board
And that's that.I think I'm all caught up now.I've got 2 paintings in progress right now,but one of them is frustrating me so it's busy sitting in the corner thinking about what it's done for now.Enjoy xo.

"Don't let it go to your head" he said....
New painting. It was originally going to be a normal lost little bunny in the woods but my emotions took it in a different direction obviously. It's untitled and I'm not sure that it's story is 100% finished yet.I really would rather not talk about this one or the place it came from, though I would imagine a monster bunny ripping his own heart out is pretty self explanatory.
Like everything else that brought this painting to birth, let's just let it remain unsaid.
Acrylic on canvas board.Enjoy xo.

"Werewolf? I don't know, you had him last!"
I haven't updated this in forever and I have to start keeping up with this and not let life get in the way.
ANYWAY I went through one of my crazy painting phases back in May.The phase where I finish as many paintings as I can before losing inspiration. This was just a Quick 2 hour 8X10 for myself(acrylic on canvas board)I made this to go in my bedroom and match my bedspread.Such a chick thing to do haha.I never gave it a title, but what came to mind when I posted it was this"All the 11:11 wishes and all the dandelion blown kisses didn't make a bit of difference, but I'll never stop wishing..."
The next one...well seriously.. at this point do I need to tell anyone who actually reads this that I'm obsessed with robots?I mean it should be quite obvious looking at alot of my past work and the tattoos on my hands for that matter.Buuut um robots are cooler than most people so that's all I really have to say about that haha.Originally, this was titled "Sorry... Wrong Trajectory",but then one of my really good friends(Hi Johnny!) left me a comment under it that was way cooler. Therefore,I'm changing the title to "Love & Sprockets" 8X10 acrylic on canvas board.
I saved my most favorite one for last.A little background on why this one is special to me:Months ago,I met this crazy guy on a bike named Keith(though he wasn't on a bike when I met him).He was covered in dirt and mud from playing with bugs and snakes and hiking all day.He pretty much changed how I viewed art and life in general instantly.I've never met anyone like him before and I highly doubt I ever will.He lives a life that most of us don't have the guts to(including myself).I'm ridiculously proud to call him my friend. He's been there for me whenever I've needed some clarity, and although we rarely see eachother and get to hang out,I know when I need him he will be there. He's extremely talented himself and someday everyone needs to see his work. That being said,I painted this for him as a housewarming gift. He's robot obsessed as well and since he had liked one of my heart paintings,I thought the best thing to do would be to combine the 2 into one painting for him.So yeah...it's a heart...and it's kinda metal and has sprockets and stuff haha.Titled "Imperfect Perfection" acrylic on canvas block.
Aaaaaand scene!Enjoy xo

"thus hath the candle singed the moth"
I can never get enough Shakespeare hence the title.
Anyway, let's see...haven't posted in months and I totally forgot about this painting even though it's hanging at the top of my stairs and I see it tons all day long.I've always seemed to find myself drawn more to moths than the ever so popular butterfly, and I decided to paint one of my favorite moths.
Basically it's born for the sole purpose just to have sex and die.It doesn't eat because it has no mouth.
However don't get me wrong,it's one of my favorites and they are truly beautiful and fragile creatures.Luna moths often fall prey to bats, spiders, toads, owls and other birds.Sounds like a pretty terrifying life if you ask me.
I've babbled long enough here is the painting. Not the best photo.I LOVE the frame I picked up for this.acrylic on 5X7 canvas board.

But so am I..

Normally, when I think about bees,I think of going to bible camp as a kid and a bee flying up my brother's pant leg and stinging him."He must have deserved it" I thought then, and actually I still think that way as an adult haha.I love bees.My favorite Transformer is Bumblebee(even though technically a bee he is not).I even have bees tattooed on the sides of my knees based on a line from a song by The Smiths that says quite simply"You're the bees knees, but so am I"
So that's what I'm calling this piece."The Bees Knees"
I could go on proving my love for bees, but that's not what this blog is for.Anyway,
I'm super happy with it and I'm glad I painted something realistic for a change.

Every Day Is Like....
"...Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey.."
The weather we have been having these days in CT is closer to Seattle or London weather.Other than today,I have barely seen the sun the past month and all it made me think of is "Every Day Is Like Sunday" by Morrissey. If you actually know me or have spoken to me,you know that The Smiths have been my favorite band since I was about 12 or 13 and without Morrissey,I would have never made it through the torture of high school or half the heart breaks I've had to mend. That being said,I thought this was a clever way to quote that song. There are one or two things I would have done differently, but all in all,I'm pretty happy with it.It's super girly too, which I'm all about.BTW,for those of you who have read this far and still haven't figured it out,it's a sundae...Every Day is like...get it?

"Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!"
If it weren't already obvious,I am a huge Alice In Wonderland fan,and always have been. However,I am not a fan of time.Waiting, schedules, deadlines, all equal no fun to me.We all have to do it though,be a slave to time that is,but at least in my newest painting"Killing Time",I can live a little vicariously through the white rabbit who apparently finally had enough of time and being late. Not much else to say really about this one. 9X12 acrylic on canvas board.Enjoy xo.

Ouchy Heart

Firstly,I cannot take credit for the title of this piece.I can always count on Brennan to make light of something seemingly depressing haha.So thank you Brennan for the title "Ouchy Heart".I don't know what to really say about this piece except that I do like how it has a very traditional look to it and I've always been a fan of traditional artwork and tattoos, however, lacking the skills in watercolor,I've never been able to accomplish anything remotely close.I'd like to think I kinda got the look I wanted from this one finally,or at least I'm on the right track.I know,I know, who doesn't have an obsession with human hearts these days?Seems to be yet another stupid trend that I will ignore and not compromise my love for anatomy that I've had since I was about 13.Yes,I was that weird girl reading gray's anatomy of the human body in high school.Fancy that,it's not just a stupid T.V. show, get into it.The human heart is fascinating to me.All in one shot you can feel overwhelming love and happiness to the core of it then on the total opposite side of the spectrum feel tremendous pain and emptiness as if a hole has been drilled into it.If no one knows what I'm talking about, then I feel bad for you.I love having the ability to literally feel my emotions in my heart like that.So there you have it..why the human heart is such a big obsession of mine and why it has ended up in multiple pieces of my art.Enjoy xo

" It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.”
It was pointed out to me that I haven't done a post in awhile,so here ya go.I've always been a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and I had thought more than once to do a painting based on it,but I never really got around to it before. It took me finally being truly inspired to find the motivation, and this is the end result. There is no official title on this one,but it has been decided that the Cheshire cat in the tree is really this cool cat named Charles... so a shout out to Charles!Hi!

Frannie likes candy
This is now the third painting I've finished in a week.I'm by no means trying to break any records, but I get these amazingly focused times where I have to be painting something on a daily basis.Unfortunately, this was the last canvas I have on hand so unless someone is donating canvas board until I can get more in a few days, this will have to be the end of my painting streak...for a few days anyway haha.
I guess I did find myself down this road again of painting another girl, and I'm kind of hooked now on these and want to do more. This one was especially fun because I got to paint along my little 3 year artist while she painted her own painting. She gave me a few "tips" like how the girl's name is "Frannie" and she likes candy, and I should paint some candy in there somewhere.I decided against painting any candy in there but in honor of my little one's suggestion,I will in fact call this girl 'Frannie'.I have to say that yesterday painting along side of my daughter was probably one of the most fun things ever. She was really paying attention to everything I was doing and was trying to duplicate it on her paper with her water colors, while all the while telling me what a great job I was doing.I had my own personal painting coach!Anyway enjoy this one!xo

"Thinking of winter.."
I'm thinking I'm over winter and the cold and the sick and all that non fun stuff but regardless since I'm obsessed with a song called "Winter" by Joshua Radin, at the moment, that's what this newest one is titled.I've been wanting to paint a girl for awhile but realism isn't my thing. Not that I can't do it,because I'm sure I could if I tried,it's just not how I enjoy painting.I'm surprised at myself that I had the urge to paint a big headed, big eyed, doll like, girl since I've always been afraid of dolls since the time I was little, but whether it's getting a tattoo or painting it,I somehow believe I'm getting over my fears by doing it.I may be doing more of these in the future if my mood brings me down that path.Couldn't get a very good photo of this one no matter how many times I tried but here ya go regardless. 14x18 acrylic on canvas board.xo!

As promised...
This is the best pic I was able to get with my shaky sick hands, and I'm pretty sure I'm keeping 'Dopo mee gusha, peedunkey?' as the title. If you haven't already, feel free to read my previous in progress post.I'm really proud of how this piece turned out. It's not like anything I've painted before and I hope I'm able to do more stuff like this.Anyone who has seen my work before,I normally do alot of cutesy girly type stuff so this was a nice change of pace for me.Anyway, enjoy!

Dopo mee gusha, peedunkey?
That btw is Huttese for 'Do you feel lucky, punk?'.You would probably know that if you are as big of a star wars nerd as I am haha.I actually woke up not feeling very lucky at all due to a head cold, but I've been trying to keep up on my art regardless,so I popped some cold meds and got to work. Now I'm convinced that it was the cold meds that helped me through 6 hours of painting what I've decided is probably my favorite painting ever.I did everything backwards on this,I never do the eyes first but again,it was a backwards kinda sick day.I'll post a real/non camera phone pic of the finished product in the morning, but here are some in progress pics while you wait.xo

Hooot..I don't give one.

Everyone else seems to be doing these blog things nowadays so I'm going to be a joiner for once and make my own.I've had this weird obsession with owls lately even though I hate birds.I blame it on an amusing but short convo about the dreaded owl bear I had with Clare a few weeks ago haha.Anyway, this isn't finished yet to my complete liking, and I haven't figured out what I'm not happy about but I will figure it out.In the meantime here is an in progress pic.Not the best or most accurate pic but it was taken with a camera phone.Acrylic on 8 X 10 canvas board.
